“World News Tonight-Saturday” won the 2nd Quarter 2020 in Total Viewers (6.398 million), Adults 25-54 (1.057 million) and Adults 18-49 (721,000), based on Most Current Data from Nielsen Media Research. “World News Tonight-Saturday” has won the 2nd quarter for the 5th consecutive year in Total Viewers and the 4th straight year in Adults 25-54 – since 2Q16 and 2Q17, respectively.
For the 4th quarter in a row, “World News Tonight-Saturday” built on the previous quarter in Total Viewers (+15,000 – 6.398 million vs. 6.383 million), seeing its most-watched quarter in over 17 years – since 1Q03.
“World News Tonight-Saturday” surged by double-digit percentages from the year-ago quarter in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+1.595 million /+33% – 6.398 million vs. 4.803 million), Adults 25-54 (+347,000/+49% – 1.057 million vs. 710,000) and Adults 18-49 (+256,000/+55% – 721,000 vs. 485,000). In fact, “World News Tonight-Saturday” posted its most-watched 2nd quarter in 23 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 13 years – since 2Q97 and 2Q07, respectively.
“World News Tonight- Saturday” beat “NBC Nightly News-Saturday” (5.835 million, 934,000 and 610,000, respectively) by 563,000 Total Viewers, 123,000 Adults 25-54 and 111,000 Adults 18-49. In fact, “World News Tonight-Saturday” delivered its largest leads in both key Adults demos over NBC during a 2nd quarter in 6 years – since 2Q14.
With coverage of COVID-19 since mid-March, “World News Tonight-Saturday” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers in all 12 weeks it aired during the quarter and in 11 of 12 weeks in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.
“World News Tonight-Saturday” beat “CBS Weekend News-Saturday” (3.336 million, 484,000 and 332,000, respectively) during the 2nd quarter in Total Viewers (+3.062 million), Adults 25-54 (+573,000) and Adults 18-49 (+389,000).

“World News Tonight-Sunday” ranked No. 1 during 2nd Quarter 2020 in Total Viewers (6.860 million), Adults 25-54 (1.206 million) and Adults 18-49 (831,000), based on Most Current Data from Nielsen Media Research. Winning the quarter in all three key measures for the 3rd quarter in a row, “World News Tonight-Sunday” led “NBC Nightly News-Sunday” (6.055 million, 1.099 million and 710,000, respectively) by its largest 2nd quarter margins in 19 years in Total Viewers (+805,000) and in 20 years in Adults 25-54 (+107,000) and Adults 18-49 (+121,000) – since 2Q01 and 2Q00, respectively. In addition, with coverage of COVID-19 since mid-March, “World News Tonight-Sunday” ranked No. 1 in all 13 weeks in Total Viewers and 11 of the 13 weeks in Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.
“World News Tonight-Sunday” was up versus the previous quarter in Total Viewers (+14,000 – 6.860 million vs. 6.846 million for 1Q20), drawing its largest overall 2nd quarter audience in over 18 years – since 1Q02.
“World News Tonight-Sunday” improved on the year-ago 2nd quarter in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+1.483 million /+28% – 6.860 million vs. 5.377 million), Adults 25-54 (+196,000/+19% – 1.206 million vs 1.010 million) and Adults 18-49 (+137,000/+20% – 831,000 vs. 694,000). In fact, “World News Tonight –Sunday” saw it largest Total Viewer audience during a 2nd quarter in 25 years – since 2Q95.
“World News Tonight-Sunday” defeated “CBS Weekend News-Sunday” (3.406 million, 537,000 and 364,000, respectively) during the 2nd quarter in Total Viewers (+3.454 million), Adults 25-54 (+669,000) and Adults 18-49 (+467,000).
