Third Season of ABC’s ‘American Idol’ Builds Year Over Year
in Adults 18-49After 35 Days of Viewing Across All Platforms
‘American Idol’ Closes Its 3rd Season With 10.1 Million Total Viewers
Based on 35 days of viewing on linear and digital platforms, the 3rd season of “American Idol” on ABC improved over the prior season by 5% in Adults 18-49 (2.28 rating vs. 2.18 rating). In addition, “American Idol” held steady year to year with Total Viewers (10.1 million vs. 10.2 million) based on 35 days of multiplatform viewing.
With a Total Multiplatform average audience of 10.1 million Total Viewers in its 3rd season, “American Idol” gained an additional +3.2 million viewers after 35 days of delayed viewing. In addition, “American Idol” finished the season with a 2.28 rating in Adults 18-49, marking a +93% lift over its Live+Same Day delivery.
In its first-ever remote finale event (on 5/17/20), “American Idol”averaged 9.4 million Total Viewers after 35 days of multiplatform viewing to close out its 3rd season on ABC with its largest audience in 6 weeks – since 4/5/20.
