For the Week of July 20, ‘The View’ Ranks No. 1 in Households Among Daytime Network and Syndicated Talk Shows and News Programs

 

On its final week of the 2019-2020 season, ABC’s “The View” averaged 2.681 million Total Viewers, 368,000 Women 25-54 and 264,000 Women 18-49, during the week of July 27, 2020, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

 

“The View” improved on the year-ago week in Total Viewers (+12% – 2.681 million vs. 2.402 million), Women 25-54 (+11% – 368,000 vs. 332,000) and Women 18-49 (+9% – 264,000 vs. 242,000).

 

“The View” was up week to week in Women 18-49 (+6% – 264,000 vs. 249,000), hitting a 5-week high – since w/o 6/22/20.

 

On Wednesday (7/29/20), with guest former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, “The View” turned in its top telecast in Total Viewers (2.843 million) and Women 18-49(279,000) in 5 weeks – since 6/24/20.

 

During its 2019-2020 season, amongst all network and syndicated daytime talk shows and news programs (21 total), “The View” (2.724 million) ranked No. 3, trailing only “Dr. Phil” (3.157 million) and “Live with Kelly and Ryan” (2.767 million) while leading “Ellen” (2.449 million), based on Most Current Data. In fact, “The View” led “Ellen” for the first time in 8 years—since the 2011-2012 season.

 

In addition for the week of July 20, 2020, the most recent week including syndication, “The View” ranked No. 1 in Households (2.1 rtg.), leading “Dr. Phil” (1.8 rtg.) and NBC’s “Today Third Hour” (1.7 rtg.) among the daytime network and syndicated talk shows and news programs.

 

NOTE: Due to a special report on John Lewis on Monday (7/27/20), “The View” was coded as a breakout and was retitled to “View-7/27.” The telecast is excluded from the weekly and season averages. In addition, due to live coverage of the John Lewis funeral on Thursday (7/30/20), “The View” was pre-empted in several markets and coverage was too low to be rated for Nielsen. ABC’s weekly averages are based on 3 days (Tuesday-Wednesday and Friday).
