ABC News’ “Nightline” averaged 1.096 million Total Viewers, 376,000 Adults 25-54, and 278,000 Adults 18-49 during the week of Oct. 7, 2019, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (353,000 and 252,000, respectively) by 23,000 Adults 25-54 and 26,000 Adults 18-49.

“Nightline” narrowed its Adults 25-54 margin year to year (w/o 10/8/18) with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” by 75% (2,000 vs. 8,000).

Season to date, “Nightline” is leading CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54 (+48,000-398,000 vs. 350,000) and Adults 18-49 (+43,000-291,000 vs. 248,000), delivering its best-ever Adults 18-49 advantage in the 5 seasons that the two shows have aired in their respective time slots—since the 2015-2016 season.

Stories reported on “Nightline” last week included a special edition investigating the hidden epidemic of Indigenous missing women and a family’s hunt for answers after one of their own vanished, a trip to Minneapolis for a Trump rally to hear from voters, the effects of climate change on the glaciers of Mont Blanc, a visit to Florida communities still trying to recover one year after Hurricane Michael and an exclusive interview with Julie Andrews.

NOTE: On Friday (10/11/19), CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” was retitled to “The Late Late Show-JC-ENC” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Late Night with Seth Meyers-SM” due to being encore telecasts. The retitled telecasts will not be included in the season averages. CBS’ and NBC’s averages are based on four days (Mon-Thurs).
