‘Good Morning America’ Is the No. 1 Morning Show in Total Viewers for the Week of July 20

‘GMA’ Posts Week-to-Week Gains in All Key Target Demos: Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49

Season to Date, ‘GMA’ Is the No. 1 Morning Show in Total Viewers for the 8th Consecutive Year and Is Increasing Its Advantage Over ‘Today’ Versus Last Season to Its Largest in 3 Years

‘GMA’ Is Cutting Its Season Margin With ‘Today’ by Double Digits in Adults 25-54, Posting Its Closest Performance in 5 Years

 

“Good Morning America” ranked as the morning’s No. 1 newscast in Total Viewers (3.351 million) for the week of July 20, 2020, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “GMA” outdelivered “Today” (3.326 million) by 25,000.

 

“GMA” posted week-to-week gains in all key target demos: Total Viewers (3.351 million vs. 3.347 million), Adults 25-54 (+5% – 905,000 vs. 863,000) and Adults 18-49 (+6% – 561,000 vs. 527,000).  

 

“GMA” narrowed its Adults 18-49 margin with “Today” from the previous week by 5% (133,000 vs. 140,000).

 

“GMA” (3.351 million, 905,000 and 561,000, respectively) defeated “CBS This Morning” (2.563 million, 577,000 and 391,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+788,000), Adults 25-54 (+328,000) and Adults 18-49 (+170,000).

 

Season to date, “GMA” is the No. 1 morning newscast in Total Viewers for the 8th straight year. In fact, “GMA” (3.856 million) is substantially increasing its advantage over “Today” (3.772 million) versus last season (+47% – 84,000 vs. 57,000) to its largest in 3 years – since the 2016-2017 season.

 

“GMA” is also cutting its season margin with “Today” by double digits in Adults 25-54 (-31% – 96,000 vs. 140,000), posting its closest performance in 5 years – since the 2014-2015 season.

 

In addition, “GMA” (3.856 million and 1.117 million, respectively) is beating “CBS This Morning” (2.941 million and 712,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+915,000) and Adults 25-54 (+405,000).
