ABC News’ “Nightline” averaged 1.011 million Total Viewers, 328,000 Adults 25-54 and 240,000 Adults 18-49, during the week of Sept. 9, 2019, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” outperformed CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (288,000 and 202,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+40,000) and Adults 18-49 (+38,000).

On Thursday (9/12/19), “Nightline” turned in its most-watched telecast (1.255 million) in 3 months – since 6/13/19.

“Nightline” narrowed its margins week to week (w/o 9/2/19) with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” by more than half in Adults 25-54 (-50% – 55,000 vs. 112,000) and Adults 18-49 (-68% – 35,000 vs. 109,000).  

Season to date, “Nightline” is leading CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54 (+28,000 – 422,000 vs. 394,000) and Adults 18-49 (+28,000 – 313,000 vs. 285,000).

Stories reported on “Nightline last week included unprecedented access with U.S. troops fighting against the enduring insurgence of ISIS soldiers and at a youth detention and rehabilitation center in Northeast Syria, a look at 2020 candidate Pete Buttigieg at age 20, presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke at the dinner table with three undecided voters to discuss guns, racism and immigration, a recap and analysis of the third Democratic presidential debate, and an 18-year-old opening up about how she became addicted to vaping and her warning to other teens.
